Our declaration of independence was a bold statement against tyranny of British empire. Forefathers were immensely charged against the big government and abuse of authority. They gave us a constitution. Soon they realized that it does not provide enough guarantees for individual rights and liberties. So, both federalists and anti-federalists, joined to architect a constitution, which would provide unparalleled freedoms, in the history of humanity. Every single historical account mentions that the purpose of Bill of Rights was to guarantee the personal rights and liberties. This is true for all ten amendments, included in Bill of Rights.

The fact that constitution begins with a phrase of three distinguished and well recognized words, “We the people”, shows that it is all about people, not the government or anything else. Our political system is called “Democracy”, which is defined as, “The government of the people, by the people and for the people”. In our ideology, our constitution and our political system, people define, construct, structure, authorize and run the government, not the otherwise, as may be described by many Statists.

Constitution, made another great distinction. It defined certain rights as “inalienable”, which means that they cannot be changed, modified or taken away, under any circumstances, as inalienable means undeniable, natural, God gifted rights that are awarded to every human being. Constitution explicitly declares that all human beings are created equal, which means, by any means, different individuals, ethnic groups, religious groups, linguistic groups and / or social and economic class, can not have rights different from other. Law is supposed to treat everyone equal.
The concept of inalienable rights, as opposed to the legal rights, has a deeply and widely embedded sense of permanency. One very important, in these inalienable, permanent, unchangeable, not modifiable and not to be revoked rights is the right to bear arms. As well said by Thomas Jefferson, “A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks”.

Our forefathers came to the new world and provided a totally fresh start and unlimited opportunities to everyone, by designing and establishing a system, never experienced in this world before. Most of them, basically, had run away from tyrannical governments in their former ancestral countries. The basic and worst problem humanity had suffered so far was that the world was ruled by an elite class, mostly comprised of governments and their favorites. They had special and exceedingly tyrannical privileges over masses. In most of the world, a common person was seriously restricted in his or her ambitions for life, liberty and happiness. Our forefathers vowed, built, and really built, a society, completely based on individual rights, empowerment, life, liberty and happiness. Our ideology, commonly called as Democracy, has always been that government is not the supreme power and must not have monopoly over the legitimate use of power. It was hundred and eighty degrees opposed to the, so called, modern liberal concept, and which we have unfortunately embraced, by and large, of anyone not trusting the government is extremist or terrorist. In our ideology government is just an instrument which has been delegated some powers by citizens and constitution to serve the people. They are civil servants, not the rulers. They have a right to govern, but, not to rule.

Contrary to most of us, who are born and raised in a free society, our forefathers had a first hand experience of tyrannies in their former countries. That is why they made it sure that constitution, the supreme law of country provides extended guarantees to life, liberty, freedom, happiness and property ownership, against tyranny. This was the reason why we adopted Democracy as our political system, so that people can govern themselves, as opposed to an elite class, which rules them. For the same reason, we have serious balance of power in our system of government. So, that no person, institution or group of people becomes authoritarian and tyrannical. We have freedom of speech, expression, writing, publishing and petition, not only because these are our personal rights and freedoms, but, also because it keeps a check on government and helps in maintaining critical balance of power, within our government. I am going to quote Thomas Jefferson, again, here, “I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of Constitutional power.”
This is our country. It belongs to the people of United States of America. We are a nation of wolves and tigers, not Jackals. It does not belong to the elite, rich, powerful, famous and government, only. While we cherish the success of successful, we cannot let them take away our freedoms and destroy our country. Government is just an instrument, empowered by us to govern this country, while strictly remaining within the limits, provided and well marked by our constitution.

Unfortunately, most of our politicians and media are, now, being run by rich and powerful lobbies and corporations. Media, which was supposed to be fair and balanced, informative, and on our side, is now on an unending campaign of disinformation. They are telling us, only, what their bosses in these lobbies and big corporations want them to tell us. Government has been growing, wildly, for a while, all on our, tax payers’ money. The patriotic and far sighted people have been warning us about it. They are slowly, gradually and tactfully, taking away all the freedoms from us. The list is long and unending. Recently, they have intensified their attacks on our right to bear arms. Their argument that the right to bear arms is responsible for shooting massacres is, of course, bogus, ridiculous and baseless.
