Unfortunately, throughout the course of history, different groups of populations have tried to get unfair advantage over ‘others’. The way it is done is that they assign certain attributes to themselves, and declare a superiority, based on those self assigned attributes Or they assign certain perceivably negative attributes to a certain group of population or even all ‘other’ groups of population, and declare them inferior or bad. This includes distinction based on religion, ethnicity, culture, race and in modern times nationality. While, more and more countries and nations are passing laws against discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, cultural differences, race and language, it is surprising or even impressive, how the modern literature on discrimination, fails to mention discrimination based on nationality. Is discrimination based on nationality is the modern, contemporary and accepted form of discrimination? Is it okay for us to declare ourselves superior based on our nationality? Or, is it okay to consider all the people of a certain nationality or even the people all other nationalities, inferior or bad, based on certain attributes, assigned to them? Like it was with religion, ethnicity, culture, language and race, in the past. This national discrimination, certainly causes same kind of disputes, hate and wars, as the other forms of discrimination did or do. In it’s essence it sounds like Nazis. After all Nazis were nationalists,  too. The elite and status quo in modern times, uses and exploits sentiments of national superiority, in the same way as the elite and status quo exploited other forms of discrimination in past or in many cases and places, the way they are still exploited.  In modern times, because, discrimination is considered so bad, many of the discriminatory leaders, do not openly accept the discriminatory nature of their ideas and politics. Instead of it, they try to hide behind certain covers. The cover they usually use is nationalism and patriotism. We did not say that or did not do that because we hate a certain group, but we said or did that because it is in the best interest of our nation or country. It was because we are so overwhelmed with concerns regarding the security and safety of our nation and country. Discrimination hidden behind nationalism and patriotism has become a routine in our world, including United States. Still today, the leaders, politicians, journalists and writers, who believe in the supremacy of a certain group of population, directly or indirectly, try to convince people, sometimes successfully, and sometimes unsuccessfully, that they are apposed to be more patriotic because they belong to a certain group of population and you cannot trust the people from other groups of population, when it comes to your national security, ideology and culture. People of a certain group of population are supposed to belong to superior culture, while others are not. Ones culture is American and other’s not.  This is the struggle for same unfair advantage over others which Hitler, Mussolini, white racists in America and South Africa and Aryans in India stood for. We are superior and privileged and others are inferior. So, they must be subdued to us, and serve us.  This is the same struggle for unfair advantage which caused immense blood shed between Muslims and Christians, Muslims and Jews, Jews and Christians, Muslims and Hindus and Hindus and Buddhists. This is the struggle for same unfair advantage, which led to Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Roman and English Imperialism and caused death and destruction for millions. It is the same unfair advantage, which led to American civil war, French revolution, first and second world wars and Arab-Israel conflict.  Why do modern definitions of racism and discrimination include, national origin, but exclude, nationality? Which means that if your origin is from another nationality and you came and merge with us, you are one of us and we cannot discriminate against you, but if you stay in another nationality, than you are inferior and we can and will discriminate against you. I understand that including the word nationality can cause serious legal issues like a persons right to work in a particular country, but, what about, including nationality in these definition after modifying the wordings in a way that it does not cause those kind of legal problems.  I believe that this national discrimination has caused many bloody disasters, and has the potential of causing lot more worse. I mean, it is unbelievable, how national leaders cause and exploit hate against other nationalities, with so much pride and there is nothing wrong with it. How politicians, particularly, far right politicians, still try to divide their own nations, by exploiting the sentiments of certain groups sense of superiority and the presumptive inferiority of other nations and people having roots in other nations, countries and cultures. This is a serious insult to our constitution, constitutional rights of all citizens and the people represented by leaders of ‘other’ origin. Why certain people still cannot accept that this person of ‘other’ origin is elected by a vast majority of voters and he represents all of us, just like the leaders from a certain origin represent all of us. This is politics of hate. It has caused nothing but hate, disputes, fights, division and wars in past and  cannot give any other results in present and in future.  American war of Independence was the biggest declaration against colonialism. We share this history and struggle with many other formerly colonized nations of the world. This struggle and war provided us freedom from an imperial power and foreign government, and we were able to build the world’s richest country and largest economy. But, some people still have problem with this history of anti-colonialism. They would rather be better off under foreign rule of a certain group of population, than under a guy from ‘other’ origin. They go so far that they start condemning the history of anti-colonialism and the anti-colonial culture. And then, above all, they don’t want to be called racist. What else can cause so much hate against an elected representative, who was elected with a sizable margin.
