Winning awards … and customers … with interactive video | NCR Banking

by Jeff Dudash, senior PR manager, NCR Corp.

North Peace Savings and Credit Union has been using our interactive video ATM technology (amongst other tech) for several years now, so they represent one of our more mature deployments of the technology behind APTRA Interactive Teller. Originally a uGenius customer that came over to NCR when we acquired the company late last year, NPSCU won an innovation award from a Canadian credit union association last week thanks to their deployment of this technology. On behalf of all of NCR, we want to congratulate NPSCU for this achievement and recognition. We like nothing more than seeing our customers succeed, and NPSCU is a great example … not just for their Innovation Award, but also because of the success they are having with their members. I’ve linked our press release with NPSCU below. There are some great data points on member satisfaction, member growth and asset growth they’ve seen and attribute to their deployment of the Personal Teller Machines. I encourage anyone thinking about INTERACTIVE video technology (“interactive” being the key word) to look at this release.

One cool point that I didn’t include in our press release: in NPSCU’s award entry, they call out the fact that one of their members, who is deaf, has been able to take advantage of their new, virtual branch thanks to the interactive video technology (using lip reading). It’s great that our technology is making that member’s everyday life easier. It made me think about something else we talk about in respect to APTRA Interactive Teller and how the technology can be applied to inclusion banking. With Interactive Teller and NCR preference software, a customer or member can be automatically connected to a remote teller with special communication skills to meet their needs. For instance, an FI who has a sizable customer base that speaks Spanish may not be able to afford to have a Spanish-speaking employee in every branch at every hour of the day. But it’s easy and efficient to have a Spanish-speaking VIRTUAL teller on hand. Something to think about.
