Mine: 1) That stock heads suck universally. It was true 20 years ago, but companies caught on and started bringing in Remo and Evans to do the stock heads for most of their lines. Now shops are trying to sell skins with every set because they have higher margin than the kits themselves!
2) For cymbals it’s B20 bronze or get out. Somehow that has been an adage forever, but Paiste 2002 is still wrecking face.
