Microsoft is reportedly weighing an investment in location-based service Foursquare. Let’s take a look at the tech stocks to watch Friday.

Microsoft down slightly. Shares of the Redmond, Wash., company are down 0.3% in pre-market trading, as Bloomberg reports Microsoft is battling with American Express to snag an equity stake in Foursquare.

The report also says Foursquare is talking to other companies about investing in its service, which allows users to "check-in" to stores, restaurants and other physical locations.

The potential Microsoft investment follows a series of key changes at the tech giant, including a massive internal reorganization and the retirement of CEO Steve Ballmer within 12 months.

More Samsung smartwatch rumors. Shares of the electronics company are trading higher in overseas markets as new rumors surface about its Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

GigaOM has a roundup of the purported features that leaked ahead of Samsung’s event in Berlin on September 4. The watch will reportedly boast 10 hours of battery life, a built-in camera and storage options of 6GB or 8GB.
