Well hack121 proved a bit too hard for most, with no one doing well enough to really be considered a winner, so let’s go with something easier this time: Smart Kobold!
Smart Kobold is a 7DRL made by roguelike legend Jeff Lait (he also made Powder). It in you control a bravegreedy adventurer taking on a cave full of kobolds. But there’s a twist – these kobolds, y’see, are very very smart and only a skilled adventurer can take them all out.
The aim: WIN! Score will be equivalent to how many hit points you survive with (there’s no healing in the game).
Special master’s challenge: I think I’m the only person who has ever won the game without using ranged weapons. See if you can do the same 😉
A note on gameplay: Kobolds die in one hit, but are rather crafty at running away, so every move matters. Mages and archers fire in diagonals, so be especially careful around them. They tend to break their bows/wands if you get close to stop you looting them, the crafty buggers. You have special items to scan for traps and scry the area ahead. The scrying ahead is especially cool before you enter to see the kobolds go happily about their lives.
