Miracles Happen – Yes

Miracles Happen – Yes. Yes, I do believe in miracles, almost 80% of the American people also believe in miracles. http://www.helium.com/search/search?search_query=miracles&search_context=Unknown.  The people of every tribe and nation have their own ways of trying to bring about miracles. Stuff happens that change lives but that doesn’t mean they were miracles. Miracles are divine, they happen through God’s will. I also believe a miracle and healing are possible through prayer. Prayer for yourself or others is a powerful tool but the miracle or healing comes from God. I had a car accident in 1964, I was alone, driving at night and went to sleep at the wheel. My heavy old Pontiac Bonneville left the road at high speed and was about to plow through the approach to a farmers field when I woke up. I remember the car crashing into the approach and then going airborne. When I regained consciousness there was total blackness. I was trapped in the car, way out in a corn field. The front fenders were pushed back keeping either front door from opening. I could see headlights once in awhile from other cars going past. It was the middle of the night and I felt I had to get back to that road if I was going to get any help. The road was several hundred feet away. I later learned nobody could see my car were it was at. I prayed like I had never in my life prayed before, I must have made several promises that I almost immediately wondered if I could ever keep. I found my self praying to and trying to play lets make a deal with God, out in the middle of a cornfield. This was the first time I had ever pleaded with God, miracles never entered my mind at that time. My right leg would not move so I figured it was broken. I thought I could crawl back to the highway if I could just get out of the car. I slid out from under the bent steering wheel and crawled over the seat to get into the back seat. I got a rear door open and got out onto the ground, the pain was awful. It was raining and I think I just lay there in the mud for a long time. When I started crawling toward the highway the mud seemed to help as I pulled on corn stalks with my hands and pushed myself along with my good leg. When I finally found myself at the edge of the highway I couldn’t lay on my back so I laid on my side facing the direction were a car would come from. A car finally came and I tried to wave for it to stop but it went right on by. There was still heavy rain coming down and they probably didn’t even know I was there. I crawled up real close to the edge of the road and got my handkerchief out. It was a long time before another car came but my frantic waving of the handkerchief got them to stop. The woman in the car was a nurse and she covered me up and stayed with me while her husband went to get help. He called an ambulance that took me to the nearest hospital. I remember being on the x-ray table and a doctor was holding an x-ray of my back up to the light, The shock of my predicament was almost impossible to comprehend. God, it was supposed to be my leg not my back. I remember a nurse saying he is going into shock, that is all I remember from that night. I laid in that little hospital on my back with the center of the bed cranked up for three days. It felt like I was being held in a torture chamber. My healthy young body was getting introduced to real pain for the first time. I have lived with various degrees of pain ever since that life changing night. That small town doctor must have decided I was going to live and transferred me to a larger hospital where I lay on a Stryker frame for almost three months. I walked out of that hospital and have thanked God for getting me through each phase of that recuperation and for each new morning to this day. My life was forever changed through one car accident. Why or how I got through the accident and recovery I cannot begin to explain but that life changing event must have been my miracle. I am still walking 45 years later and the center of my spinal cord is now hollowed out by a disease called Syringomyelia. The doctors think my surviving with Syringomlelia this long is a miracle by itself. Millions of people have their own miracle story to tell and how it changed their lives. Some people have been blessed with a miracle and may not even realize it because good stuff happens too. Tweet
