The winning run was scored by Craig, who got on base while facing Uehara. So, shouldn’t the loss be given to Uehara?
Also, why does the MLB.com box score and the ESPN box score give the run to Workman? Baseball-reference gives the run to Uehara, but still gives the loss to Workman.
Is there some obscure rule here that’s being used? How can a guy be credit for a loss when the winning run was scored by a guy who batted after said pitcher left the game?
