malignancies and lies are allies in
the dark
enshroud themselves in shadow
taunt you to assault them with
the blunted blades of truth
Yes, worth is not disclosed by
softly shining light
but is delivered bathed
in blood
not born, but sought
through
flesh that fought
the scalpel’s cold
interrogation
the truths that most
illuminate our lives
emerge at last when urgencies
impel us to excise
them free and toward the light from
through the bleeding
womb of lies
