So. I run an XMPP chatroom. The server that my administration bot is on is separate from the main host, and is yet separate again from our recruitment bot (connects to a popular chat site where we can try and pull in interesting chatters to our… chat).
I have a mod that I know and trust in the AFK world. She’s not totally technology inept, but isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to this stuff (sorry if you’re reading this but, dear, it’s true). The server that the recruitment bot (henceforth referred to as Obot) is on sometimes kills long-running scripts. No problem, I’ll restart the bot. But… I’m not on all the time (work, college).
Hey, I can give the info to said mod. Cool, it’ll be simple. I’ll teach her "cd" and "ls" and how to run screen, while teaching her how to use SSH. Win win win win.
Wrong.
To make an already long story a bit shorter, let it suffice to say that it took me a half hour to get her to go into two sequential directories, run "screen", and enter "python obot.py", all while she’s inadvertently going into different directories with javascript tests and just generally being… confused.
I can edit for details but man, I just want a drink right now.
EDIT: I accidentally a word.
