On-screen prompt for downloads will appear on devices
As hinted at previously, Apple will be providing five best-selling creativity and productivity apps free to customers buying new iOS devices. The iWork suite, consisting of Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, along with iPhoto and iMovie will be available to download at no charge to anyone purchasing a new iPad, new iPhone, or 5th-gen iPod Touch in the future.
Apple CEO Tim Cook advised during today’s iPhone and iOS event "We think that iWork is a really key advantage for our customers’ productivity, and iPhoto and iMovie are great for their creativity," and that "Almost all of our customers want these apps." It is not clear if iWork for iCloud will be included as part of the offer.
Eligible customers will in the future see an on-screen prompt in iOS7, providing the option of downloading the apps to the device.
