It is an undeniable fact that all major religions of the world including, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism, made it obligatory for all of their true followers to re-distribute wealth from rich to poor, an obligation commonly known as charity. Unfortunately, under the influence of anti-Christ propaganda from conservatives, Republicans, Tea-Party and Corporate owned media, we have created a system that is doing exactly opposite of what these religions intended, that is, re-distribution of wealth from poor to rich. I mean, a system in which poor are paying more tax then rich and rich are getting richer, while, poor are getting poorer, aren’t we denying the basic principles of whatever the religion we follow or do not follow. Under this system of re-distribution of wealth from poor to rich, commonly termed as Reagan’s trickle down economy, Bush created only one million jobs in his eight years and then lost fifteen million in the greatest recession since great depression. While Obama Democrats, being falsely dubbed as anti-Christ, created 1.1 million jobs in very first year, even though economy is still recovering from worse recession.
Today, top 1% of American population worth more then 90% percent of bottom put together. My question is where this wealth is trickling down and to whom? Certainly not the over 9% unemployed and over 9% of under-employed. Average income of richest 31,000 Americans is 27 million dollars, while, bottom, 90% has an average income of $31,000. This wealth is certainly not trickling to bottom 90%. About half of Americans, 104 million, own only 2.5% of U.S. wealth, while, remaining almost half owns 97.5% of it.
If someone tells me that only 1% of Americans are smart and hard working enough to make money, while, 90% are stupid and lazy, then, I will call that person a complete idiot. It’s not that only 1% population is smart and hard working enough, it’s the system, supported by corporate media and sold out politicians, that is causing re-distribution of wealth from poor to the rich.
Just tell me honestly, what justifies this? Last year an average corporate CEO earned an income that is 343 times the income of an average American worker. Really? This is not trickle down, this is trickle up.
Let me tell you, how anti-Christ Reaganomics has been! In 1980, when Reagan took office, top 1% earned 10% of all incomes in United States. Twenty-eight years later, in 2008, top 1% earned 21% of all incomes in U.S., while, middle class wages did not change at all and their buying power was significantly reduced. What a great re-distribution of wealth from poor to rich? Marx would have had a heart attack watching this!
Between 1980 and 2008 the income of top 1%, 3 million total, out of about 300 million U.S. population, grew from an average of $346,600 to an average of 1.3 million and two thirds of the net growth, 66&, trickled up to them. Today fifty percent of Americans earn less then $500 a week, while, richest 1% makes an average of $25,000 a week. Please note, $25.000 is the amount that 50% of Americans would make in a year.
Who are the idiots, demanding a recovery with this virtually dead buying power of an average American? Also, the number of Americans living on subsidized food has increased by 46% since 2006. People who are worried about weapons of mass destruction, should know that the greatest weapon of mass destruction, poverty, is hitting us. Our poverty numbers are now third highest in all developed world. It would really shock me, if you still want to pay the debt and cut federal budget deficits by cutting social security, Medicare, Medicaid, education and unemployment, instead of reviving the Clinton’s taxes, that balanced the budget for first and only time, in a long time.
Now, this insanity is totally incomprehensible to me. Please, someone explain me this. The Reagan and Bush tax cuts that caused three recessions, two wall street melt downs, tech crunch, real estate melt down and shipping of millions of American jobs to countries like China, why any sane person would want to keep them?
I agree that government spending is out of control and there is lot of waste. But, how spending cuts alone, while, government spending and entitlements are only 14% of budget, are going to cut these huge deficits and will pay-off the 14 trillion dollars debt, and counting?
I believe and every sane person must agree that spending cuts must be a part of any comprehensive deficit reduction plan. But, if you put political gimmick aside and talk rationally in numbers, there is absolutely no way out of it, without reviving Bill Clinton’s taxes, unless green revolutions turns out to be a revolution even bigger then Internet.
It is insane that just one year after huge financial crisis of 2008, top 25 hedge funds in United States made 25 billion dollars, that is 1 billion each, although, we know that hedge funds played a huge role in selling faulty mortgage based securities. Isn’t their executives were supposed to be in jail, instead?
None of the people, including these hedge funds executives have got any considerable punishment, yet. It is the magic of money that the law in our country exists only for blue collar crimes, now. It is virtually non-existent for white collar crimes, in a country which has always been proud of it’s supremacy of law.
Every day, I am losing more of the hope for fixation of our broken Democracy and financial system. In the world’s first democracy and flag bearer of democratic system, it costs more then what an average person earns in his lifetime, to run for congress. This is another reason due to which elections and government, along with all of it’s three branches, have become money game and are totally controlled by rich and powerful corporate lobbies. Without their support, it is impossible to run for any office and only they can guarantee a re-election. Before, any major race even starts, media picks up the so called front runners and the factor that is of first and foremost importance in picking up these early fore-runners is, who has the most money? Doesn’t matter, what your record is? How honest and hardworking you are? How good your plan and ideas are? How good your team is? If you do not have lots of money, thanks to the rich and powerful corporate lobbies, you are out of luck.
