PSA: If you have to ask us whether or not you should go to a vet, the answer is YES!! : ferrets

prettybabygifts

When in doubt, GO TO A VET! Don’t wait for our input. We are not professionals and there is very little we can do to help you diagnose your ferrets’ problems other than make speculations. When we cannot see or handle your ferret, all we can do is throw guesses at you.

Because ferrets are such stoic animals, if they are displaying strange symptoms of behaving oddly, there is a very good chance that something is wrong! The majority of threads that are posted here asking for help about their sick or injured ferret ends up with us just telling people to go to a vet. JUST GO!!

I know that throwing tons of money at a vet sucks. This year alone I’ve had to deal with 2 sick ferrets, a dog diagnosed with diabetes, and surgery to fix an umbilical hernia in a kitten.. I know what it’s like to have vet bills. Still, vet bills are a way of life if you are to own ferrets. This is something everyone should be prepared for!

Of course, we are always willing to help if we can. Just please understand that there are rarely ever cheap and easy fixes for ferret problems, and that unless your ferret has definitive symptoms for common diseases, we are not likely going to be of a whole lot of help.

GO SEE YOUR VET!!

(P.S., this thread is going to replace the photo contest sticky for awhile. There has been a link placed in the sidebar for the photo contest, and here is another: November Photo Contest)
