Throughout the worldwide history of humans, the best thing humans could do was to merge with the empire, and their worst possible act would be to secede. It was given different names like treason, mutiny, revolt, etc. It would entitle the king to wage a war upon those unruly people, massacre and destroy them, do mass murders, confiscate their wealth, or simply force them to go into exile. Starting with the Magna Carta, the right to self-determination was gradually recognized. The dream never attained its full fruition, but, at least on paper and in many instances, it was honored. People could now determine if they wanted to be independent or get annexed from one country and merge with another.
Americans issued the Declaration of Independence on the same grounds. They had the right to secede from the British Empire and acquire independence, which they enjoyed. Before becoming the president, Abraham Lincoln was adamant about his agenda. It included making slavery constitutional, which was a violation of the principle of self-determination, levying tariffs on Souyjern states, and providing corporate welfare tax money to railroad companies, which he represented extensively as a lawyer. From the beginning, southern states made it very clear that they would not comply with tariffs because those would destroy their economies. On the other hand, Lincoln was not going to give up on those tariffs.
So, the war got started because Southern states claimed their right to secede. In violation of the principles of the Magna Carta and the US Constitution, Lincoln wanted these states to comply with tariff laws and would not let them secede. The war was terrible. Lincoln turned out to be an absolute tyrant. He appeared to spare no sound or lousy tactic in that war. Over 600,000 Americans died, entire cities were burned to the ground, mass killings, especially in General Sherman’s march, were common, thousands were imprisoned just for criticizing the war or Lincoln, hundreds of publications were banned, speech was strictly controlled even in the houses of legislation, Habeus corpus was suspended.
He levied the first income tax in US history, printed tons of centralized fiat currency, which caused severe inflation, and increased tariffs many times; besides all of that, this war on tariffs suddenly became a war against slavery. With the prospect of losing the war, in desperation, he issued a broken proclamation to end slavery, in which all the union territories were exempted. This tactic worked. Blacks started defecting from the Confederate army en mass. He won the war. But left a terrible legacy behind: the legacy of tyranny and the legacy of unbreakable unions that have been voluntary so far. It was and is a blatant violation of the now and, at the time, universally accepted right to self-determination.
It makes the empire an abusive marriage from which the abused woman can never get out. It is so pathetic that we support the right to self-determination worldwide. We even supported the secession of Soviet states from the Soviet Union. But, in our public school textbooks, the biggest and the worst denier of this right is still portrayed as a here. It is because of Lincoln that the media and so-called gurus still dare to smear the proponents of secession. It is because of Lincoln that idiots like Trump still consider tariffs as a viable solution. It is because of Lincoln that so-called patriotism and Nationalism are still alive in America.
In essence, it is okay for the guy to beat up and even kill his wife if she wants to leave. Unbelievable. Lincoln finally realized the Hamiltonian dream of extinguishing state rights and creating one giant empire that saw and accepted no bounds. Tyranny has become customary in the empire of lies. One so-called executive order from the president can kill every wish and every hope. The executive orders were not meant for these purposes at all. These were never meant to make the president above all laws and constitutions. In the early days, these were only meant to order stationery, furniture for the office, and small and minor things. Now, the president can pretty much do or undo anything with one move of the pen. Can you call it a republic or even a Democracy?
Of course, this is what is supposed to happen. If we have learned anything from history, we must be sure that every government and government official will go as far as he or she can. The government is a monster that continually grows and strengthens its power, control, and authority. The limited government is a pipe dream that was never realized and will never be realized, at least in the long term. We must stop the insanity of doing the same and expecting different results. Reforming the government is a goal that can never be achieved. We must get rid of this monster. Enough with negging masters for freedom. Like American revolutionaries, we must declare that we are born with inalienable rights, and from now on, we will own those. This time, of course, we must not fall the same old.
Politics and political systems of coercive authority have always been a farce right from their inception in Sumeria and will always remain so. Nature has built us an alternative system of complete individual sovereignty. It is called Capitalism. It means zero coercive authority to run our affairs and create wealth and prosperity. All has been done and can be done by voluntary and peaceful transactions between individuals. All these problems of warfare, welfare, poverty, unemployment, inflation, and freedom, which were never solved by coercive authorities, can be solved with the freedom to voluntarily and freely exchange the value. Defense, law enforcement, so-called public utilities, money, the justice system, and intelligence can all be done far more efficiently and cost-effectively in laissez-faire competitive markets.
Let us end the slavery. Stop being a ping-pong ball between one tyrant and the other. Claim your sovereignty. Claim your natural rights. Be free. Read writers like Murray Rothbard, David Friedman, Walter Block, Hans Herman Hoppe, Joe Salerno, and Tom Dolirenzo and discover new possibilities.
