[MOD] Reminder: Reading the FAQ before posting is a requirement, not a recommendation; other rules : gainit

Hello gainers! Recently, there has been an issue with an influx of posts that would be considered "beginner" and could be easily addressed by reading our FAQ. We would like to remind you:

Reading the FAQ before posting is required. If your post could’ve easily been answered by reading the FAQ, it will be removed at moderator discretion.

Examples:

[Help] I want to gain but have no idea where to start.

[Help] I’ve been skinny all my life and want to be big, but I don’t know how.

[Help] It’s impossible for me to gain weight. What do I do?

You get the picture. I understand that many beginners are intimidated by the information and want specific advice tailored to them, but trust that we wouldn’t lead you astray. The information in the FAQ is the standard answer you would get anyway, and is uniform across people of all shapes and sizes. In most cases, there is no reason you couldn’t read our FAQ and get started successfully immediately without asking a single question.

Understand that this doesn’t mean to refrain from asking questions in general or for clarification, just that we want you to have an understanding of the basics before doing so.

Now, some of you may have noticed a while ago that we added rules to the bottom of the FAQ. They are as follows:

Read the FAQ (we’ve covered that!)

Encourage enlightening and helpful discussions

Racist, sexist, and general negative content may be removed per mod discretion

We are not a replacement for a doctor. If you have a special condition or need advice on an injury, consult your physician.

Now, the mod team will do our best to remove posts and comments that violate these rules, but we want your help! You can do that by:

Using the report function to report posts/comments that violate the rules. Moderators will be able to more quickly address these posts/comments once they are reported. It’s anonymous and strongly encouraged.

Even further, if you use the [message the moderators] inbox to tell use you have reported a post/comment (and why if you would like), we will receive an immediate alert and will be able to deal with the post/comment swiftly. Doing this; however, removes the anonymity. (Don’t worry — even if a post/comment is evaluated and deemed to be within the rules, it’s no harm, no foul as long as you don’t abuse the privilege).

One final topic of discussion: the spam filter. The mod team checks the spam filter as often as we can, but sometimes a caught post may elude our notice. If you have posted something and feel it may have been caught in the filter, please message us.

All that said, almost all of you do a great job of following these rules and we appreciate it. Now go eat!
