Context
As a British person I hear a lot about the slave between Africa and America and that it was largely facilitated by the British Empire up until 1834. However, I never hear anything of what slavery was actually like on the British mainland. We see movies all about chattel slavery in the USA and the horrors of being shipped across the Atlantic in those tiny ships, but we never hear about the Queen having slaves or if she had slaves or of aristocrats having slaves.
