Description
This chess set package includes our Zagreb Series Chess Set in golden rosewood and boxwood matched with our Deluxe Walnut Chess Case. This design became prominent in the 1950’s when it was first used in the World Championship Candidates Match held in Zagreb in 1959. This set stands out from other Staunton designs with its opposite color tops on the king, queen, and bishop and the unique and handsome knight with its graceful curves and down-turned head. The golden rosewood chess pieces have rich golden-brown colors that go perfectly with the color of the walnut board. The pieces are individually hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful luster. The king is 3.25 tall and has a base diameter of 1.375 – an ideal size for the game at home. The pieces have thick green baize pads so they slide smoothly across the chess board and are heavily weighted for stability.Our Deluxe Chess Case has two drawers with individual compartments for storing all 32 chess pieces separately. The compartments are lined on the sides and bottom with a soft beige velour material to protect the pieces from getting scuffed up. The case measures 16.5 square and is 3 tall. The chess board squares are 1.625 and are enclosed by an attractive black border. The sides of the case have an elegant molded profile and the board on top is enclosed by a frame. This chess set will look stunning displayed in your home whether you keep the pieces in the drawer or leave them on the board ready for the next game.Chess Pieces: Golden Rosewood & Boxwood; Pieces Hand Polished; King Height: 3.25; King Base: 1.375; King Weight: 1.8 oz.; Chess Set Weight: 32 oz.; 2 spare queens are included for pawn promotion; Green Baize Cloth Pads; Certificate of Authenticity; Chess Case: Solid Wood, Walnut and Maple Veneer, & Other Wood Products; Finish: Satin Polyurethane (soft sheen); Overall Dimensions: 16.5 x 16.5 x 3; Square Size: 1.625; Inside Drawer Dimensions: 8.5 x 6.5 x 1.875 ; Drawers lined with a soft velour material;
