You will look at some of the key definitions and terminologies that may be used in a meeting as well as looking at what happens during the meeting and consider the role that a minute taker will need to play to help make the meeting a success. You will finish the course by exploring what to include and how to write the final minutes, the different styles of writing and how to finish the meeting. In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80 or more in the final multiple choice quiz. Unit 2 – Preparing for a meeting – In this unit you will look at what makes a successful meeting, what the agenda is, agenda items, reading the agenda, research, equipment needed and what needs to be avoided and how to arrange for other equipment and documents. Unit 3 – What happens during the meeting – In this unit you will explore what the core task of a minute taker during the meeting is, what to do upon entering the meeting, how to take effective minutes, recording motions and how to maintain focus. You will finish the unit by looking at how to deal with a stressful meeting and conversations that go off track. Unit 4 – After the meeting has taken place – In this unit you will consider how to write up the minutes taken and what to include and when to write it. You will finish the unit by looking at the importance of action points in meeting minutes, the useful terminologies, and minute templates.
