Description

To honor both Pride history and the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as the long fight for their rights, Levi ™s partnered with artist, organizer and activist Fresco Steez to create a customized, limited-edition Pride Levi ™s ® Trucker Jacket. Inspired by the many political movements that have happened in New York City in support of LGBTQIA+ rights;from Stonewall, to the fight against the HIV/AIDS crisis of the ~80s and ~90s, to the more recent fights against anti-queer and trans legislation;Fresco ™s Trucker is an articulation of Pride ™s history as well as a recognition that every queer and trans person should be engaged in a deep act of self-love. Fresco has designed creative concepts for the Movement for Black Lives, Black Lives Matter, ~me too, ™ and a host of other political causes. Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Fresco began organizing at the age of 14, and has dedicated her life to the fight for Black liberation. She is a co-founder of BYP100 (Black Youth Project), a member-based organization of Black youth activists, where she served as Minister of Culture and developed the phrase Unapologetically Black. Every piece in the collection;a total of only 20 will be available exclusively through the Levi ™s ® App;is a vintage fit, and features embroidered graphics that tell the story not only of Pride, but of every LGBTQIA+ person ™s right to live unapologetically. The back of the jacket features a floral motif inspired by gay liberation activist Marsha P. Johnson ™s famous flower crowns, and below that, the phrase œWe all deserve the freedom to bloom. On the front of the jacket is the phrase œUnapologetic, a declaration that queer and trans people should never apologize for being their fullest and most authentic selves. Fresco ™s Pride Trucker Jacket also features two patches that celebrate two major moments in Pride history. The first is a blue and pink patch that declares, œStonewall Was A Riot!, a reminder that the first Pride event was, in fact, an uprising. The second, a œQueer Liberation patch in pink, was inspired by the fight against HIV/AIDS in the ~80s and ~90s, and asks the question: How can we fight for the conditions that would create true queer liberation? With their color schemes of blue and pink, both patches serve as an ode to the trans flag, and a message that Pride is not only about sexuality, but about gender as well. œPride month is a time to reflect, celebrate and explore identities. It ™s about respecting and honoring the LGBTQIA+ folks who had to fight for the right to exist, to live freely and to flourish. These are conditions that folks are still navigating today. This jacket was inspired by all of the different political movements that have happened in New York City over the decades, and the story arc that starts with Stonewall and ends with the individual. ; Fresco Steez A collaboration with artist, organizer and activist Fresco Steez Our beloved Trucker Jacket;customized in honor of the many leaders who ignited the Stonewall uprising Chainstitched design on the back features Matsha P.
