You will learn how legionella enters the body and what health risks can occur. The unit will finish off by exploring who is at higher risk of developing Legionnaires’ disease and where people can contract it. Unit 2 – Environments – Here you will be introduced to the environments where legionella bacteria can be found, the workplaces that are at higher risk of legionellosis and what types of systems can be at risk of legionella. Unit 3 -Identifying and assessing risks – Next you will explore risk assessments and the applicable legislation. You will look at how the significant findings of the legionella risk assessment should be recorded and arrangements for review and what the requirements for employees are. Unit 4 – Controlling and reducing risks – In this unit you learn how to control and reduce the risks of legionella. You will look at how to prevent the risk of exposure to legionella and what control measures are required when the risks cannot be prevented. Unit 5 – Legislation – In our final unit you will consider all legislation applicable to legionella and will learn who is responsible for managing risks. You will also learn about the landlord duties in futuher detaill. The unit will finish by looking at the enforcement action that could be taken if a duty holder is found to be in breach of legionella associated legislaion.
