While regular CRP identifies high levels typically linked to infectious diseases or tissue damage, high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) pinpoints chronic mild inflammation even in healthy people. Why Analyze hs-CRP? Recent studies suggest that chronic mild inflammation might increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes. These conditions often arise from plaque buildup in major blood vessels, a process called atherosclerosis. Contrary to its name, atherosclerosis deals with cholesterol deposition and immune cell accumulation, not calcium. Chronic inflammation, detectable through hs-CRP levels in blood, both initiates and exacerbates this process.
