Place the compass flat on a map at the starting point and point the aiming arrow (the red arrow in front of the dial) in the direction of the destination point, your azimuth. Then turn the dial so that the north point (N value) is parallel to the north of the map (i.e. the upper part of the map). This way, your compass is configured according to the map.
