The knights are hand carved with meticulous precision and with features such as the perked ears, eyes, and mane that gives this chess set its name. As you can see from the photo, the black ebonized chess pieces go beautifully with the colors of the black and burnt umber of the macassar ebony chess case. As with most of our chess sets, 2 extra queens are included. The chess case is made from solid woods and macassar ebony and maple veneers. It has two large drawers, one on each players side for stoing pieces. The drawers will hold chess sets with a king base up to 1.625 diameter. An unbeatable value at this price!
