Start in San Jose and take a two-hour boat ride to Tortuguero, where you see the natural and manmade canals in Tortuguero National Park. From July to September, take optional turtle-watching tours as the sea turtles arrive en masse to lay their eggs on the beach. From there, travel to Arenal Volcano and enjoy hot springs that the volcano provides. Then travel to Monteverde and explore Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve.
