Our British Staunton chess set originates from the old British Chess Company design from years past. This chess set features a sleek profile, beautifully carved knights that are smaller than any other chess set, and oversize pawns. An unusual but very popular combination that results in an exceptional chess set for both tournament play and a beautiful chess display! As you can see from the photo, the golden rosewood and boxwood chess pieces match the walnut and maple of the chess board perfectly. As with most of our chess sets, 2 extra queens are included. The chess case is made from solid walnut and other wood veneers and has two large drawers, one on each players side. The drawers will hold chess sets with a king base up to 1.875 diameter.
