You will also explore the two main pieces of health and safety legislation, as well as the six-pack regulations that were introduced due to EU directives. For a risk assessment to be effective in reducing the risks, it must identify the hazards that are foreseeable and significant. In this course you will learn about the nine principles of prevention and how these are very similar to a hierarchy, and that more than one principle can be used to reduce the risks. Employers must consider the principles of prevention in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 when controlling the risks. You will explore that elimination is the best option, as it eliminates the hazards and risks, which is part of a five-step approach that is recommended by the HSE.
