Eight black and white plates, including frontispiece of author. A clean, crisp textblock. very good Dr. Daniel Caulkins (1824-1905) earned degrees in medicine, law, and theology. He practiced medicine in northwest Ohio at Williams Center and while fever was prevalent in the county in the 1860s, he never lost a patient. He also served in the Mexican-American War, and taught medical courses after the war. He began designing airships in the 1860’s and tried to construct a flying machine that ran on gas. Many historians argue that the Wright brothers applied his theories while developing their first attempt at an airplane.
