There have been 272 bomb blasts in Pakistan, during 2011, so far. These blasts have killed 417 innocent people, mostly Muslims and injured 1081. Pakistan, the country most effected by terrorism, according to U.N. reports, wanted to avoid the backlash from Osama Bin Laden’s death. That is why, in spite of providing the initial tip about Bin Laden’s residence, in 2009, ISI, Pakistani intelligence agency, left it all to U.S. and didn’t try to take any credit for it. Instead took the risk of being criticized and condemned, all over the world. This includes, serious criticism form U.S. media and politicians. Most politicians are stupid and opportunists, anyway. But, U.S. media, many of them claim to be the world leaders in news and information, missed the key points and clues like, do the helicopters used in this operation have the capability to fly that far or they flew from a base within Pakistan? Why did lights went off two hours before attack and came back fifteen minutes after? How can four helicopters dodge a defense system that is on a very high alert due to ongoing war with Taliban and tensions on borders with India? How can none of the security forces noticed and responded to a violent , 40 minutes operation in which one helicopter blew away with huge blast, in spite of having one of the leading military academies of Pakistan in close vicinity? They took Bin Laden’s body and wife to the sea, which is over a thousand miles away from Abbott Abad and never got noticed?
But, the retaliation that Al-Qaeda is showing to Pakistan, proves that these Mullahs are at least not as stupid as our politicians and there sources of information are not as dumb as our media. They have no doubt that Pakistan played a key role in this operation and now they want to punish Pakistan for it, while, our media and politicians keep criticizing Pakistan for hiding Bin Laden, for intelligence failure in Pakistan and for under cover Pakistani support for Al-Qaeda. Idiots! Why would these terrorists do 272 bomb blasts, 417 killings and 1081 injuries, just this year, in a country that was hiding their dearest leader? And what they are retaliating to, if Pakistan has no involvement in Bin Laden’s death? This means that this year so far Pakistan is having an average of more then two terrorist attacks, more then three murders and about nine injuries per day. This is the level of sacrifice Pakistan is making for this war on terror. And the result and return? Just read any U.S. newspaper or news magazine, listen to any U.S. news channel and watch any U.S., T.V. channel. Are they really so intellectually challenged and so ignorant in their information and analysis? What a shame? Is this the way we return the favors? Is this the way we are supposed to treat our friends and allies?
I understand the dirty game of politics and I understand the dirty money game on media? But, I never realized that it is so limitless. It has no boundaries. Politicians want to score cheap points at any cost and regardless of anything, and media want to make money at any cost and regardless of any journalistic ethics.
The worst part of this are the answers of the questions like why do we have these ridiculous politicians running our country? Why are these highly sub-standard media companies so powerful in our country? The answer is because we vote for these politicians and because we watch and buy these media, and do business with them.
The hate that we have for Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda is natural. But, it is quite amazing that just one incidence that we do not even properly understand and which we have not even properly investigated, can make us take a 180 degree turn against our long time and so much suffering ally. Pity! Isn’t it? Don’t you agree? Do you have any other amicable and logical answer or explanation for it?
The key point here is that trust is the foundation of any long lasting and strong relationship. This is particularly true in international relations. The problem here is that in spite of being allies for sixty-two years (Pakistan’s total life is sixty-three years) we do not trust each other. This a major reason due to which the U.S. Pakistan mutual relations have had so many ups and owns. Fortunately, or unfortunately, due to Pakistan’s extremely important strategic location and mostly secular governments, U.S. and Pakistan seem to be the natural allies and all these ups and downs in the history have not been able to truly break this alliance.
It is in the benefit of both countries, and the world, that serious steps must be taken, on both sides, to rebuild this trust. We must also understand that although being close allies for so long, these are two different countries with very different history and cultural roots. So, they have never been and they will never be identical to each other. If we want to keep these ties and make them stronger, then, both countries must embrace this diversity with open hearts. In both countries, there has always been and there will always be a minority opposing this alliance. We the people, our politicians, our media and our educational institutions have to take a more responsible role in this regard. This is particularly more important in post nine-eleven world, in which there are overwhelmingly high doubts about Muslim countries and people.
We need to understand that serious stupidities under religious extremism, is not a new thing in this world. It has always been there and still exists in every religion. That is why religion is responsible for most killings and wars in human history. In contemporary world, Islam seems to be the worst effected religion. As in past, and as with other religions, this does not mean that all or majority of the people following that religion is bad. Majority has always been the moderate people just trying to make living and it still is. I can’t even imagine that the world may even exist, anymore, if there were almost two billion terrorists in it.
