Since the time unknown, lots and lots of people are killed in the name of “my God is better than your God”. Civilizations come and go, religions expand and recede, ideologies are popularized and discredited, cultures enlightened and faded, nations dominated and disappeared, empires conquered and vanished, but, this dispute keeps going on. Even in current era of multiculturalism and tolerance, inner and hidden prejudices and hate keep surfacing time and again. Humans have always found satisfaction and self-glory in demonizing and belittling others. It is more convenient to raise one’s stature by cutting other person’s legs then by strengthening morals and character.

This is, by far the most unfortunate and sad aspect of human societies. We are still far, far away from learning to live together. Bias is natural and necessary for survival. This is what makes a mother protect and defend her child from all harm and threats. Without it majority of off-springs would have never been able to survive the harshness of this world. But there is, and should be a huge difference between bias for and bias against. Many of us still cannot differentiate between love for and hate against. Love for is the mercy of God and hate against is curse from evil. Covering up the weaknesses of people we love is our instinct for survival, blaming others on the assumption of wickedness is a march to disaster.

Why don’t we learn from history? Many would blame ignorance. Some would point to corrupt leadership. For others it is problem with human intelligence. Yet, there is enough evidence for lake of comprehension. Why not pray for empathy? I would say ultimate responsibility lies in individuals. We all have propensity to go with flow. Do what everyone else is doing. Surrender to peer pressure. Influenced by propaganda. Let go the judgement. Overlook reason and evidence.

Yet, we all are human beings. Color of our blood is red. Our minds have the ability to think. Our eyes have the power to view and envision. Our ears can hear the outcry. We can feel the warmth of love and care. How do we dare to kill and hurt our own kind? How do we destroy our own civilizations? How do we do a mockery of our own existence? Where does this venom of hate come from? What makes us fall in the deepest and ugliest of ditches? How do we get so reckless?

Why would a mother want other mother to lose her dearest? How a father does shoots someone else’s son? What makes brother rape someone else’s sister? How a sister does hates someone else’s brother? Why would a son give tears to someone else’s mother? Why would a daughter want another daughter to live without her dad? Questions are endless. But, we are still searching for answers. What has made humans so brutal? Why the thirst for blood does never ends? How much power is too much and enough? How much money and wealth at the cost of others? How long is this game of fame and defamation? Why do we always blame others and never ourselves?

Is human conscience dead? Is human life the least precious thing in our lives? Is money more important? Is religion more important? Are vested interests more important? Is national pride more important? How long human souls will continue to cry? How long hate will dictate our words and our actions? How long will it take to put ourselves into the shoes of victims? When will we start feeling the pain of others? When will we learn to respect the life, liberty and property of others? Do we really believe that God is watching us?

What makes a Jew, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or Atheist superior to others? Superiority and inferiority based on beliefs is true or not? Do we have a right to possess and own different beliefs? Are different ways of living justified? Or we all must have same way of living, just like only one God? Does a different way of living gives us a right to attack and kill? Unanswered questions are endless. Some of us may have answers to some of these questions. Some of us may have thought about these questions. Many of us believe that it is useless waste to time to even talk about these mysteries of human thought and action. Many of us just want to follow what they heard from their parents. From their cultural gurus. From their teachers. From their leaders. From their priests. From media.
Is it really worth to never give a thought to questions causing so much havoc in human lives since time unknown? Isn’t it the limit of ignorance, to have no clue about such an important answers? Did God give us intelligence to be able to choose our own destiny? To choose our own path? To be able to find truth? To be able to recognize and do the right thing?
Are we just a little bit above the herd of sheep? Or we must just follow the herd? Are we really supposed to have, and actually have individual identities? Is every one of us proud of ourselves as independent individuals? Or we are just animals following our instincts? What actually differentiates intelligent beings from wild animals? Is it animal like behavior or independent individual thinking? Do we actually possess the capability to differentiate between right and wrong? Do we have any respect for our own kind?
Looks like I am the one idiot who still preaches an individual thinking, talk and action, above and beyond religious, cultural, ethnic, linguistic, national and geographic bias. I still look at human beings as one kind which needs to survive and thrive based on love and respect for everyone else. We get what we give. If we give hate to others, we get hate in return. Love and hate are perpetual. They continue and grow continuously. It is purely our decision, if we want to remain a culprit to hate and prejudice or want to grow love, respect and tolerance for every one of us.
