To the least, U.S. foreign policy is a complete mess. Instead of pointing fingers on each other, we all, together, must make a serious effort to find out and understand how we got where we are, right now. Unfortunately, politicians and big media are playing the same dirty game, again. No one is really trying to get to the bottom of serious issues. They are just distracting us, once again, from facts, by playing the usual blame game. What happens always is that Republicans get to sentimental with these discussions and start blaming Democrats, and vice versa. The objective of corporate controlled media and politicians is to make us angry on each other, and do not let us to get to the core of problems.

To properly understand the real issues, we, first of all need to understand what led us to this point. Generally speaking, with the exception of a very small proportion, people are very sensitive and sentimental about their certain personal identities. These identities may lie in their religion, nation, ethnicity, race, language or ideology. These identities may look stupid, outdated, irrational, ridiculous, backward and irrelevant to the people of other religions, cultures, nationalities, ethnicities, and linguistic and ideological groups. But, to that particular group, those identities are critical requirements to their existence.

Throughout the course of the history, we see lots of wars, bloodshed, loss of property, and devastation of cultures, ideologies and religions, just because two or more groups did not respect and properly understand each other’s way of thinking and living. Phrasing it in a different way, the reason for most wars has been that one culture, religion, ideology, nation, civilization or any group of people considered itself superior to the others. This sense of superiority has been the hallmark of all the, so called, major religions and dominant civilizations. Time and again, we see that someone more dominant and powerful gets on a mission to change the world, and causes huge devastations.

World would have been a much better and peaceful place to live, if everyone just mind their own business, and did not try to impose their philosophy and way of living on others. In many of those major conflicts, in human history, what made things even worse is the fact that each conflicting party thought that their way of living was better than others, and tried to subdue all the others to their power and authority.

Of course, generally speaking, most people do not want to give away the way of living, they consider the biggest asset in their lives. When the way of life is threatened, people get ready to fight, and attack and destroy the perceived aggressor. Like all the other religions of world, Islam has its own drawbacks. It is the latest of all major religions. Hence, it is at least six hundred years behind in the evolutionary cycle of, especially, monotheistic religions. In other words, Muslims are where Christians and Jews were about six hundred or more years ago. If someone proposed to any Christian or Jewish society about six hundred or more years ago that there must be the freedom of sex, gays must be allowed to merry, alcohol should be legal, women should be allowed wear bikinis, abortion should be legal and gambling should not be a stigma, his fate would not have been much different than what such people face in Muslim countries.

I mean, even we are still struggling with these issues within our societies, and there are many within us who want to turn the clock back. When Muslim clerics see that their people, especially the young ones, are being flooded by western civilization, and adopting these perceivably satanic views and way of living, they get seriously threatened, just like our priests, pastures and Rabbi would have been six hundred or more years ago.

So, they get ready to fight. They tell their followers that western civilization is seriously threatening our religion and the way of living. They want our women to dance naked in clubs, drink alcohol, divorce their husbands, put elders in nursing homes, give away children for adoption and have sex with other women. People, who mostly are where we were six hundred or more years ago, perceive this as a serious threat. So, they get ready to fight, too.
At the top of this when we start to control their governments and media, invade them for various reasons, right or wrong, only thing that definitely happens is that it strengthens those fears and sense of being threatened. Unfortunately, most of our policy makers do not understand this. They continue their efforts to export Democracy and force other cultural reforms on Muslim world. They need to understand that these changes, doesn’t matter how important and dear to us, are far ahead of most Muslim world, from evolutionary point of view.
Trust me Muslim world is changing, and due extra ordinary pressure exerted by Western world through their cultural, technological, monetary, financial, economic and political progress, it will change much faster than we did because we did not have these external pressures. Their change will not take six hundred years. What we need to do is to stop exporting and enforcing the change. Let it take its natural evolutionary path. Our interventions are just annoying them, and prolonging this process of change, in Muslim world. The cultural changes always come from younger generations. By engaging them in continuous wars we are pushing the change prone youth, away.
If you give a deeper look to Muslim world, you would realize that they have come a long way since the inception of Islam about fourteen hundred years ago. Change, evolution and progress are inevitable. Doesn’t matter what they do, Mullahs cannot stop it, just like our religious elite has been unable to stop it. Leave them alone. If they want to fight with each other, let them fight. We went through long wars and lots of blood shed during our revolutions. Sunnis and Shiites are the Catholics and Protestants of Muslim world. Once they take care of each other, in a decisive manner, masses will take on religious elite, just like we did.
