We will also consider different factors which can contribute to an increased risk of developing bipolar disorder. These factors include genetic, chemical, personality and environmental differences. Each one will be explored and the risks associated examined. Unit 2 – Experiences of individuals with Bipolar Disorder – Throughout this section of the course we will look at the symptoms associated with bipolar disorder. We will cover both manic and depressive symptoms as well as the feelings and behaviours associated with each. Unit 3 – How Bipolar Disorder affects others – Now we will look at how bipolar disorder affects people and those around them. This will include close family, friends, parents as well as the stigma attached to such a mental issue. Unit 4 – Medical intervention and managing episodes – In this part of the course we will consider different types of interventions and ways to manage episodes.
