We will look in depth at the four main types of discrimination and examples of each. The Equality Act 2010 will be covered and you will learn the nine protected characteristics and examples of each. Our equality ad diversity course will finish off by exploring real life case studies of harassment, bullying and discrimination and you will consider what the effects of these can be on a persons physical and mental health. The unit will finish off by exploring how individuals can become more self-aware to ensure that they are not acting in a way that is discriminatory. Unit 2 – Protected Characteristics- Here we will start with an overview of what is meant by ‘protected characteristics’ in line with The Equality Act 2010, before examining each one in more detail. Unit 3 – Discrimination and the law- Next you will be introduced to the kinds of discrimination including an overview of times when discrimination may be legitimate. This unit will also consider each of the protected characteristics identified in the Equality Act 2010, at the end of this unit will be several case studies that show how protected characteristics are related to discrimination. Unit 4 – Unacceptable conduct in the workplace In this unit you will explore the different ways in which people may experience unacceptable conduct in the workplace by defining and giving definitions of stereotyping, prejudice, bullying, harassment and victimisation. Unit 5 – Reporting concerns In the final unit we will consider what to do if an individual wishes to report a concern about bullying, harassment or discrimination. The steps that are recommended by ACAS are covered. This unit will finish off by exploring some case studies to show how the law applies in real-life situations.
