Throughout the known human history, global exceptionalism has been the cause of all wars and most of the violence. The common notion for this destructive thinking is, “My God is better than your God.” In Sumeria, the earliest and most documented civilization had Enki and Enlil, causing incredible loss of lives and destruction with wars. In Babylon, the tribes of Enki and Enlil were in constant wars. In Egypt, the conflict between Akhenatun and other Gods caused bloodshed. In Greece, Ares and other gods received that honor. In Rome, Mars and YHWH were in constant conflict. Modern governments replaced the gods, so national exceptionalism now divides and rules.
The problem with exceptionalism, especially in modern times, is that it hides behind deceptive terms. No government ever says that they are waging war to dominate and for imperialism. It is always you and us because we are better than you, barbarians and sinners. Sumerian tablets mention about Ninurta, son of Enlil:

But, of course, the government said later on that they did it to end slavery. Lincoln never mentioned emancipation in his entire political career until he realized that he wouldn’t win the war unless he pulled blacks to his side. Even then, the proclamation was so skewed that almost none of the enslaved people in Northern states got freed. But these only got replaced by a far more fierce, coercive, and ruthless tyranny of the God of atheism, aka the government.
